Significance of Panj Bania in Sikhism

In 1699 CE, on the historic day of Vaisakhi at Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib (Anandpur Sahib), Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji created the Khalsa Panth and administered Amrit (Divine Nectar) to the Panj Pyare (Five Beloved Ones). During the preparation of Amrit, the Panj Bania were recited continuously over the iron bowl (Bata) while stirring with a double-edged sword (Khanda).

Ever since, every initiated Sikh (Amritdhari) commits to reciting these 5 Banis every morning as part of their daily Nitnem Sahib path. Reciting the Panj Bania instills unwavering courage, moral clarity, humility, and divine bliss.
