Phulkari, literally translating to "flower work," is a traditional Punjabi embroidery technique that has adorned women’s shawls and dupattas for centuries.
Crafted using bright untwisted silk threads (Pat) on coarse hand-woven cotton cloth (Khaddar), Phulkari motifs draw inspiration from daily rural life, geometric gardens, peacocks, and wheat fields.
Special varieties like Bagh (garden) cover the entire cloth with embroidery, traditionally presented during weddings and sacred family ceremonies.
