रागु वडहंसु महला १ घरु ५ अलाहणीआ ॥
raag vaddahans mahalaa 1 ghar 5 alaahaneea |
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |
Blessed is the Creator, the True King, who has linked the whole world to its tasks.
धंनु सिरंदा सचा पातिसाहु जिनि जगु धंधै लाइआ ॥
dhan sirandaa sachaa paatisaahu jin jag dhandhai laaeaa |
When one's time is up, and the measure is full, this dear soul is caught, and driven off.
मुहलति पुनी पाई भरी जानीअड़ा घति चलाइआ ॥
muhalat punee paaee bharee jaaneearraa ghat chalaaeaa |
This dear soul is driven off, when the pre-ordained Order is received, and all the relatives cry out in mourning.
जानी घति चलाइआ लिखिआ आइआ रुंने वीर सबाए ॥
jaanee ghat chalaaeaa likhiaa aaeaa rune veer sabaae |
The body and the swan-soul are separated, when one's days are past and done, O my mother.
कांइआ हंस थीआ वेछोड़ा जां दिन पुंने मेरी माए ॥
kaaneaa hans theea vechhorraa jaan din pune meree maae |
As is one's pre-ordained Destiny, so does one receive, according to one's past actions.
जेहा लिखिआ तेहा पाइआ जेहा पुरबि कमाइआ ॥
jehaa likhiaa tehaa paaeaa jehaa purab kamaaeaa |
Blessed is the Creator, the True King, who has linked the whole world to its tasks. ||1||
धंनु सिरंदा सचा पातिसाहु जिनि जगु धंधै लाइआ ॥१॥
dhan sirandaa sachaa paatisaahu jin jag dhandhai laaeaa |1|
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord and Master, O my Siblings of Destiny; everyone has to pass this way.
साहिबु सिमरहु मेरे भाईहो सभना एहु पइआणा ॥
saahib simarahu mere bhaaeeho sabhanaa ehu peaanaa |
These false entanglements last for only a few days; then, one must surely move on to the world hereafter.
एथै धंधा कूड़ा चारि दिहा आगै सरपर जाणा ॥
ethai dhandhaa koorraa chaar dihaa aagai sarapar jaanaa |
He must surely move on to the world hereafter, like a guest; so why does he indulge in ego?
आगै सरपर जाणा जिउ मिहमाणा काहे गारबु कीजै ॥
aagai sarapar jaanaa jiau mihamaanaa kaahe gaarab keejai |
Chant the Name of the Lord; serving Him, you shall obtain peace in His Court.
जितु सेविऐ दरगह सुखु पाईऐ नामु तिसै का लीजै ॥
jit seviai daragah sukh paaeeai naam tisai kaa leejai |
In the world hereafter, no one's commands will be obeyed. According to their actions, each and every person proceeds.
आगै हुकमु न चलै मूले सिरि सिरि किआ विहाणा ॥
aagai hukam na chalai moole sir sir kiaa vihaanaa |
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord and Master, O my Siblings of Destiny; everyone has to pass this way. ||2||
साहिबु सिमरिहु मेरे भाईहो सभना एहु पइआणा ॥२॥
saahib simarihu mere bhaaeeho sabhanaa ehu peaanaa |2|
Whatever pleases the Almighty Lord, that alone comes to pass; this world is an opportunity to please Him.
जो तिसु भावै संम्रथ सो थीऐ हीलड़ा एहु संसारो ॥
jo tis bhaavai samrath so theeai heelarraa ehu sansaaro |
The True Creator Lord is pervading and permeating the water, the land and the air.
जलि थलि महीअलि रवि रहिआ साचड़ा सिरजणहारो ॥
jal thal maheeal rav rahiaa saacharraa sirajanahaaro |
The True Creator Lord is invisible and infinite; His limits cannot be found.
साचा सिरजणहारो अलख अपारो ता का अंतु न पाइआ ॥
saachaa sirajanahaaro alakh apaaro taa kaa ant na paaeaa |
Fruitful is the coming of those, who meditate single-mindedly on Him.
आइआ तिन का सफलु भइआ है इक मनि जिनी धिआइआ ॥
aaeaa tin kaa safal bheaa hai ik man jinee dhiaaeaa |
He destroys, and having destroyed, He creates; by His Order, He adorns us.
ढाहे ढाहि उसारे आपे हुकमि सवारणहारो ॥
dtaahe dtaeh usaare aape hukam savaaranahaaro |
Whatever pleases the Almighty Lord, that alone comes to pass; this world is an opportunity to please Him. ||3||
जो तिसु भावै संम्रथ सो थीऐ हीलड़ा एहु संसारो ॥३॥
jo tis bhaavai samrath so theeai heelarraa ehu sansaaro |3|
Nanak: he alone truly weeps, O Baba, who weeps in the Lord's Love.
नानक रुंना बाबा जाणीऐ जे रोवै लाइ पिआरो ॥
naanak runaa baabaa jaaneeai je rovai laae piaaro |
One who weeps for the sake of worldly objects, O Baba, weeps totally in vain.
वालेवे कारणि बाबा रोईऐ रोवणु सगल बिकारो ॥
vaaleve kaaran baabaa roeeai rovan sagal bikaaro |
This weeping is all in vain; the world forgets the Lord, and weeps for the sake of Maya.
रोवणु सगल बिकारो गाफलु संसारो माइआ कारणि रोवै ॥
rovan sagal bikaaro gaafal sansaaro maaeaa kaaran rovai |
He does not distinguish between good and evil, and wastes away this life in vain.
चंगा मंदा किछु सूझै नाही इहु तनु एवै खोवै ॥
changaa mandaa kichh soojhai naahee ihu tan evai khovai |
Everyone who comes here, shall have to leave; to act in ego is false.
ऐथै आइआ सभु को जासी कूड़ि करहु अहंकारो ॥
aithai aaeaa sabh ko jaasee koorr karahu ahankaaro |
Nanak: he alone truly weeps, O Baba, who weeps in the Lord's Love. ||4||1||
नानक रुंना बाबा जाणीऐ जे रोवै लाइ पिआरो ॥४॥१॥
naanak runaa baabaa jaaneeai je rovai laae piaaro |4|1|

वडहंसु महला १ ॥
vaddahans mahalaa 1 |
Come, O my companions - let us meet together and dwell upon the True Name.
आवहु मिलहु सहेलीहो सचड़ा नामु लएहां ॥
aavahu milahu saheleeho sacharraa naam lehaan |
Let us weep over the body's separation from the Lord and Master; let us remember Him in contemplation.
रोवह बिरहा तन का आपणा साहिबु संमालेहां ॥
rovah birahaa tan kaa aapanaa saahib samaalehaan |
Let us remember the Lord and Master in contemplation, and keep a watchful eye on the Path. We shall have to go there as well.
साहिबु समालिह पंथु निहालिह असा भि ओथै जाणा ॥
saahib samaalih panth nihaalih asaa bhi othai jaanaa |
He who has created, also destroys; whatever happens is by His Will.
जिस का कीआ तिन ही लीआ होआ तिसै का भाणा ॥
jis kaa keea tin hee leea hoaa tisai kaa bhaanaa |
Whatever He has done, has come to pass; how can we command Him?
जो तिनि करि पाइआ सु आगै आइआ असी कि हुकमु करेहा ॥
jo tin kar paaeaa su aagai aaeaa asee ki hukam karehaa |
Come, O my companions - let us meet together and dwell upon the True Name. ||1||
आवहु मिलहु सहेलीहो सचड़ा नामु लएहा ॥१॥
aavahu milahu saheleeho sacharraa naam lehaa |1|
Death would not be called bad, O people, if one knew how to truly die.
मरणु न मंदा लोका आखीऐ जे मरि जाणै ऐसा कोइ ॥
maran na mandaa lokaa aakheeai je mar jaanai aisaa koe |
Serve your Almighty Lord and Master, and your path in the world hereafter will be easy.
सेविहु साहिबु संम्रथु आपणा पंथु सुहेला आगै होइ ॥
sevihu saahib samrath aapanaa panth suhelaa aagai hoe |
Take this easy path, and you shall obtain the fruits of your rewards, and receive honor in the world hereafter.
पंथि सुहेलै जावहु तां फलु पावहु आगै मिलै वडाई ॥
panth suhelai jaavahu taan fal paavahu aagai milai vaddaaee |
Go there with your offering, and you shall merge in the True Lord; your honor shall be confirmed.
भेटै सिउ जावहु सचि समावहु तां पति लेखै पाई ॥
bhettai siau jaavahu sach samaavahu taan pat lekhai paaee |
You shall obtain a place in the Mansion of the Lord Master's Presence; being pleasing to Him, you shall enjoy the pleasures of His Love.
महली जाइ पावहु खसमै भावहु रंग सिउ रलीआ माणै ॥
mahalee jaae paavahu khasamai bhaavahu rang siau raleea maanai |
Death would not be called bad, O people, if one knew how to truly die. ||2||
मरणु न मंदा लोका आखीऐ जे कोई मरि जाणै ॥२॥
maran na mandaa lokaa aakheeai je koee mar jaanai |2|
The death of brave heroes is blessed, if it is approved by God.
मरणु मुणसा सूरिआ हकु है जो होइ मरनि परवाणो ॥
maran munasaa sooriaa hak hai jo hoe maran paravaano |
They alone are acclaimed as brave warriors in the world hereafter, who receive true honor in the Court of the Lord.
सूरे सेई आगै आखीअहि दरगह पावहि साची माणो ॥
soore seee aagai aakheeeh daragah paaveh saachee maano |
They are honored in the Court of the Lord; they depart with honor, and they do not suffer pain in the world hereafter.
दरगह माणु पावहि पति सिउ जावहि आगै दूखु न लागै ॥
daragah maan paaveh pat siau jaaveh aagai dookh na laagai |
They meditate on the One Lord, and obtain the fruits of their rewards. Serving the Lord, their fear is dispelled.
करि एकु धिआवहि तां फलु पावहि जितु सेविऐ भउ भागै ॥
kar ek dhiaaveh taan fal paaveh jit seviai bhau bhaagai |
Do not indulge in egotism, and dwell within your own mind; the Knower Himself knows everything.
ऊचा नही कहणा मन महि रहणा आपे जाणै जाणो ॥
aoochaa nahee kahanaa man meh rahanaa aape jaanai jaano |
The death of brave heroes is blessed, if it is approved by God. ||3||
मरणु मुणसां सूरिआ हकु है जो होइ मरहि परवाणो ॥३॥
maran munasaan sooriaa hak hai jo hoe mareh paravaano |3|
Nanak: for whom should we mourn, O Baba? This world is merely a play.
नानक किस नो बाबा रोईऐ बाजी है इहु संसारो ॥
naanak kis no baabaa roeeai baajee hai ihu sansaaro |
The Lord Master beholds His work, and contemplates His creative potency.
कीता वेखै साहिबु आपणा कुदरति करे बीचारो ॥
keetaa vekhai saahib aapanaa kudarat kare beechaaro |
He contemplates His creative potency, having established the Universe. He who created it, He alone knows.
कुदरति बीचारे धारण धारे जिनि कीआ सो जाणै ॥
kudarat beechaare dhaaran dhaare jin keea so jaanai |
He Himself beholds it, and He Himself understands it. He Himself realizes the Hukam of His Command.
आपे वेखै आपे बूझै आपे हुकमु पछाणै ॥
aape vekhai aape boojhai aape hukam pachhaanai |
He who created these things, He alone knows. His subtle form is infinite.
जिनि किछु कीआ सोई जाणै ता का रूपु अपारो ॥
jin kichh keea soee jaanai taa kaa roop apaaro |
