History & Spiritual Significance

Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib marks the precise spot in Chandni Chowk where Ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was martyred on November 11, 1675 CE.

Guru Sahib sacrificed his life to defend the religious freedom of Kashmiri Hindus, refusing forced conversion by Aurangzeb.

The banyan tree (Bargad) under which Guru Sahib sat and the well where he bathed before his martyrdom are preserved inside the complex.
